So Many Ear Infections...ugh!!!
For those close to Chase you know we have been battling ear infections since December. Today we took Chase to the ENT (ear, nose and throat) doctor for a consultation visit and to the Audiologist for a Hearing Test. Chase was fussy during both visits. I guess sitting in a small room with LOTS of cool things you can't touch can be a bit frustrating for a 14 month old. The ENT doctor looked at both of Chase's ears and said he had fluid on both sides, but the right ear had more than the left and could be on the verge of ANOTHER EAR INFECTION....UGH!!!!!!! Well that just might justify the reason he has been so fussy!! I think Rich and I are done hearing that! The doctor was very nice and had wonderful bedside manners and doesn't want to jump the gun on tubes. He says the earliest he will put them in for Chase is October since some children lose theirs between 6-18 months after insertion. If Chase lost them within 6 months it would be the middle of winter ....so we are playing the waiting game. Chase's hearing test didn't go so well....or should I say didn't happen at all. The audiologist took a picture of both ears and that was it. She said if the canal was clear of fluid there would be a peak on the paper.....Chase had 2 flat lines :( We know he can hear because he has over 15 spontaneous words, but we want to make sure he can hear CLEARLY! We will plan to go back in a couple of weeks for the booth hearing test. Please say a prayer for us during the process.
